“APA refers 4 workers at Public Transport Authority to immediate trial for attempting to call for a public stri

Counselor/Rashida Fathallah-President of Administrative Prosecution Authority ordered to refer the following workers at the Public Transport Authority (PTA): -Two drivers – Accidents Observation Delegate and a Laborer to immediate trial
As APA received a report from PTA’s Board Chairman in Cairo regarding the statement given by the first and second accused workers that was published in Al-Ahaly Newspaper in its edition no. 1691 on 278/2014 under the headline “The independent workers’ union at the Public Transport Authority prepares to organize a public strike”
Investigations conducted by Counselor/ Tamer Mostafa Kamel- Member of Headquarters Technical Bureau in case no.275/2016 revealed that the first and second accused workers were members of the PTA’s Union of Workers that was established following the 25th of January 2011 revolution where they were suspended from this union on 11/8/2014 due to disciplinary violations and accordingly they were not authorized to speak with media outlets on behalf of the union
As the investigations concluded that the first and second accused workers gave statements to one of the newspapers on 27/8/2014 regarding calling PTA’s workers to do a public strike at the beginning of the new academic year against PTA officials for disregarding their demands without the consent of the competent authority, in addition to giving media statements when they were hosted on a television program on a foreign channel “TV Channel” where they gave false statements without verifying the validity of those statements in order to arouse public opinion, also they slandered former and current senior officials at PTA and accused them of corruption and theft of worker’s funds without presenting any legal proof that confirms the validity of those charges
Whereas the first accused official: 1- combined between two jobs as he worked as a news editor in 2013 in three newspapers and was involved in political work as he occupied the position of vice president of the so called “International Organization for Human Rights” and held/carried three ID cards for those mentioned posts without the consent from the competent authority as he is a public servant.
2-Joined a terrorist group in 2013/2014.
Besides, the first, third and fourth accused workers raised the yellow and black emblems that represent the Terrorist Muslim Brotherhood Group at the headquarters/premises of the charitable association of the independent workers union of Public Transport Workers, where pictures of them were taken and posed on several news websites in order to arouse public opinion, accordingly the Prosecution concluded referring them to immediate trial as they were charged of being involved in political work and violating the law as public servants where they conducted a manner that disturbs public security and social peace
